These boys have nailed the ability to write great songs and you can hear that throughout their songs. They have all the key factors in place to make an impact on fans far and wide. They may have more of a traditional Indie / Pop Punk sound, but something about their music makes a mark loud and clear!

We just wanted to strip the music back and create a true honest sound. I think we succeeded in doing that.’ I completely agree with those words, and I think Olly Hite has an amazing talent. Everyone should listen to this guy. You wont regret it.

Get Set Radio are a great band from Guildford, UK. If you like bands like Funeral for a Friend, you’ll love these guys. From great vocals to catchy riffs, Get Set Radio are soon becoming a band to look out for. They currently have a brilliant EP out called ‘The Adventures Of…’ which you can get from their myspace or itunes! I highly recommend it, and if you can see these guys live, do it!!! you won’t be disappointed.

hey guys.
A friend of ours is doing some research on the music industry, and wondered if you’d help her out. Here’s her message:

Hello, my name is Tara and I am currently in my 3rd year of Manchester Metropolitan University studying Advertising & Brand Management. I am writing my project about the Music Industry with a focus on the label EMI. I would be grateful, if ambitious artists like yourself would help by answering the following questions in a hope I can understand the current perception of consumers of your particular segment about the record label industry. Any additional feelings on the subject are welcome and appreciated.

Are you aware of any top labels, and if so do you know their position within the market in terms of Market share?

Do you know whom these artists belong to?
Beatles
Britney
Lilly Allen
Leonia Lewis

Do you think the artist has an effect on the label or the label on the artist?

When you like an artist, does who they are signed to effect your perception of them?

List what qualities/attributes/perceptions you think are important for record labels (E.g. facilities, equipment, A&R, artists signed to that label, popularity, financial state etc)?

Do you think there is a relationship between record labels and consumers?

What would your reaction be if the labels took a more front seat position within the music industry (developed a stronger relationship with the consumers of music)?

Thank you very much for your time and thoughts, it is greatly appreciated!

Tara Lapsley

Please e-mail replys to taralapsley@googlemail.com

Time for China are an Alternative/Indie/Electro band from Manchester UK.

’Not confining themselves to any particular genre or style of writing, the songs are allowed to develop characters of their own instead of being forced like a square peg into a round hole to make them sell. The band are not afraid to be taken the wrong way by misguided critics who might mistake catchy for commercial. Definitely more refreshing than most of the current crop of bands, time for china are more interested in establishing their own original sound than becoming the next ‘Arctic Mancys’.

They’re worth checking out!
