Unlike other groups, each member of THE SHAKE is schooled in a different style of music, and draws from a wide pool of influences including rock, blues, jazz, and punk. The result is what they call “a constantly evolving, more musically diverse style of rock that utilizes distinct melodies and harmonies in order to maintain a straightforward and familiar feel that still sounds fresh.”
For the new album, the band chose to take a different approach to their songwriting. “On the last album, we chose to just throw down whatever lyrics came to mind for the song. This time, we decided to take a bit more time with them. The songs themselves are very upbeat and exciting but have lyrics that are more mature, which we thought was an interesting contrast.” This band have a great, unique sound and I can see them getting far! I wouldn’t be surprised if their songs get stuck in your head for days. Watch out, these guys are going to be big!

Mariday are an Alternative/Progressive female duo from New York. Their music fuses catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics and dreamy instrumentations with a great vocal delivery, which shows a likeness to artists such as K.T Tunstall and Beth Gibbons (of Portishead). I was hooked instantly to these girls, and I think they have a great deal of potential!

The Age of Rockets are a great Indie / Rock / Classical trio from New York, and they have one of the most unique sounds I have heard for a while. They fuse intriguing vocal harmonies with bright string parts and powerful drums. They are reminiscent in many ways of The Postal Service, however they still maintain their own strong musical ideas, creating a sound which will blow you away. I’m still in shock at how good these guys are, and they are not a band to be overlooked!

Some of you may remember us mentioning our upcoming debut unsigned album, a compilation album showcasing 10 of the best tracks by some of the greatest unsigned talent worldwide. The album launch was June 1st, but unfortunately launching the album has been delayed a couple of days due to hold-ups with our billing system and development work.
Admittedly some of the delay is our fault (and some is outside of our control), as we are relaunching DiscoverUnsigned.com completely to coincide with the debut album’s launch. Check back soon to witness our new look and best of all amazing new content! The good news is that we’ve had the album playing in the background pretty much non-stop during all this development, and we’re still loving how it sounds!
I figure that I can’t leave you hanging quite that much, and so here is a preview of the album cover:

We hope that you will check back soon to witness the album’s launch, and assure you that it will be worth the wait!

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to post an update about the site incase anyone thought it had fizzled out. Unfortunately both myself and Matt have been snowed under with work for our final exams, meaning that blog updates can’t take priority.
However, we have been working hard behind the scenes to get the June debut unsigned album ready for launch! The album is sounding really great and I’ve decided to redesign the website to coincide with the album launch. The fresh DiscoverUnsigned will be a lot cleaner and easier to navigate, and will center more around our albums, which we predict will be big news. Of course we’ll still be posting updates about great unsigned bands, interviews, and I’ll be getting my video camera out over the break to hopefully get some backstage footage.
Please keep checking back to see the album/website launch and if you haven’t already join our Facebook group to receive further updates.
Thanks for sticking around we promise that the site will be really taking off in the coming weeks/month!
